So I figure eight months is about right between updates, don't you think? Ha! It's been a while. Guess I figure I should make a post about all the excitement that has been part of our lives this year. So far, it's been pretty amazing :)

WORK
Chris found a job! He has been working for Fidelity since the beginning of May and everything is going well so far. He took the Series 7 and Series 63 exams and passed both with flying colors. The Series 7 he was the top of his class with a 94%! The job is great so far and I think a lot of opportunities will open up for him in the near future. We are really excited and SO grateful for it. The best part is, we work about a half mile down the road from each other so we get to ride to and from work together every day!

My job is also doing great. I am immensely busy this month with budgeting for next year, a huge property sale, and a small team project for our upcoming company seminar in November. I've been a little overwhelmed with all the new responsibilities that have been placed on me recently, but I guess that means that have a lot of faith in me.

CHRIS FAMILY
Chris's family is doing great. His mom had a major surgery back in June but she is almost fully recovered from that. Now they just need to clear her to drive! Ashley has been here a couple times in recent months and it's been great to see her, and Kirstin and her boyfriend Park are doing great.

ASHLEY FAMILY
My family is doing great also, although we did very recently lose a member of our family. My grandfather passed away on St. Patricks Day this March. It was majorly unexpected and a huge loss for our family. My grandma had recently had one of her legs amputated, and between that and having dialysis three times a week, my family could not personally care for her. As a result she had to move into a care facility and my dad, as the only child, has taken on a huge responsibility of taking care of her home and finances. We all miss my "Papa" terribly and will always remember what a great man he was and the influence he had on our lives.

In July my parents and youngest brother were able to come here for two weeks and we got to spend a lot of really great time together. I took a few days off of work and I got to spend a long weekend with them in southern Utah. We went to Bryce Canyon and Zions National Park and did some really amazing hiking. We also played lots and lots of games!! I'm so grateful for that time we had to spend together. I wont be seeing them again until December!

Also, Eric just got home from his mission in Boston! I got to spend a few days this past week with him and it is so great to have him back here and finally have some of my own family here in Utah. He doesn't look any different but I can tell he has grown a lot spiritually and has really matured a lot. Now I'm excited for him to get married! haha

VACATION
In April Chris and I took a vacation. We weren't going to take it so early but since he was going to be starting a new job and having to study for tests we thought we should get it out of the way early. We went a little more extravagant than we originally anticipated too, but we figured a last big hurrah before he started working and before we have children. So we went to CANCUN!! It was fabulous. I'll let some pictures do the talking.

LEISURE
After work and everything else we both have things we like to do for fun. Together we really enjoy movies, tv, and games. We both also really like playing sports so all summer I've been playing softball and now I'm even playing two nights a week! Chris has been kinda MIA for softball and basketball because of work and injuries, but I think he'll get back in the swing of things soon. I also really enjoy reading and I recently read a series called The Uglies. If anybody has any good book suggestions, I'm always up for new ideas!

Other than all that we are enjoying it being just the two of us. We get up together, go to work together, come home together, have dinner, watch tv, play games, and just enjoy being together. We don't have the stress of job searching or studying anymore so it's great to just come home and enjoy each other. Our life hasn't ever been any better than it is right now!

Hopefully the rest of the year will provide us with even more new and exciting adventures...

...and hopefully I'll actually be around again soon to write about it! :D

Christmas

Christmas was crazy fun. First of all, since we were going to be gone for 10 days in the middle of December we did lots of fun Christmas stuff early on. We decorated the house the day after Thanksgiving and spent the next couple of nights watching Christmas movies in our bedroom while we both sat on the floor on opposites sides of our bed wrapping presents. That was fun :) We also went to the Festival of Trees, made gingerbread houses, and made TONS of yummy cookies to deliver to our friends and neighbors.

Then we got to spend 10 whole days in Michigan, it was so awesome! I hadn't been home to see my whole family since my Grandma's funeral last January so it was great to see my Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. We played games, visited friends, went to high school basketball games, had lots of Wesco hot chocolate and The Depot turnovers...yum! A couple days before we left we got to celebrate Christmas early with my family and it's always so fun to see people open the gifts that you've chosen for them!

Then after 8 hours of traveling on Christmas eve we made it back to celebrate Christmas at home. Chris's sister Ashley was in town and it was great to see her! Christmas Eve was a little more boring cuz the whole family was either sick or tired so Chris and I just went home and watched a movie. Christmas day was awesome though. We spent a couple hours at home opening our gifts from each other and enjoying our time at home together. Then we went over to his Mom's house and opened gifts with family, talked to my brother on his mission on the phone, had dinner with his aunt, uncle, and cousins, and celebrated his sister's Christmas day birthday. The next couple days we spent with his family before his sister left, lounging around at home eating leftovers and enjoying our Christmas presents :)

It was such a wonderful holiday and we have lots of new memories now with both of our families. Now at the start of the new year we are setting new goals for ourselves and looking forward to what will hopefully be an awesome 2011!

Where did the time go?

So things have been rather busy around here lately. It seems like there's always stuff going on to fill up the days and weeks. I mean I can't believe the summer flew by so fast, Halloween has come and gone, Chris turned 27, and Thanksgiving is in one week!....And we get to go to Michigan in less than four weeks!
So what's new? Well after almost a year and a half serving in the nursery in our ward we've finally been released. Chris is still waiting to receive a new calling but I was more than a little surprised by my new one. I've been called to serve as the 2nd counselor in the Primary Presidency! Yikes! I have so much to learn but I think it will be fun. We have darling kids and pretty soon all the nursery kids I've had for so long will be coming into Primary. It was a little stressful the first week since they threw me in the week of the Primary Program AND the Trunk or Treat, but it's died down since and now I just have to worry about teaching sharing time on Sunday!
Halloween was fun. We had a big party with all of our friends and Chris and I enjoyed making our costumes. Between that party, work, and the ward trunk or treat, I got good use out of it too. It took a long time to make but I'd say my Rubiks Cube costume was a hit! And Chris went as...Darth Brooks! :)

For our friend party I also made Oreo Truffles and Dirt Cake for the first time and they turned out great! Although I probably shouldn't make them too often...they're too good!

A couple of days after our party we carved pumpkins with our friends the Bradshaws. Too bad I forgot my camera and I had to take some on Amanda's camera. So for now I
only have pictures of our sweet pumpkins.

For Chris's birthday we stayed in Park City for two nights. We did some shopping at the outlets, went swimming, and just relaxed, it was great! Then the following weekend we stayed in Midway with the Bradshaws. Two great relaxing weekends in a row!

On Wednesday this week we had a baby shower for my friend Katie at work. We all went out to lunch at Sizzler and she opened her gifts there. I was in charge of collecting money from those who wanted to do a group gift and I had SO much fun putting it together. I think I've found my go-to baby shower gift. I made a diaper cake!

Other than all that, I just finished up playing volleyball on Wednesday nights. Our team wasn't all that great, but it was still kinda fun. Now I just need to find somebody who plays basketball...We've also been going to an institute class on Thursday nights. Put all that stuff together and we stay pretty busy. Chris is still searching for a new job in the finance/banking field, so if anybody has any contacts or ideas, please let us know.

Well, at my rate I won't be writing for another while, but I'll try to put up some pictures of Thanksgiving and Christmas soon.

So lots of stuff has been going on lately. We made it to our one year anniversary and had an awesome time staying in Park City one weekend and in Twin Falls the next. We were in twin Falls for my friend Lisa's wedding so we got to experience that. I had my birthday on July 6th and turned 23. Christopher made it one of my best! We went to Park City over the 4th of July weekend to celebrate my bday and go to Tuacahn for a couple of shows. So fun!! Enjoy the pics!

Happenings

Well...I didn't get a part in the play. But like I said before, I wasn't expecting one. Well, I guess I can't say that I didn't get my hopes up just a little, but it's not like I was surprised. What I'm really glad about is that I tried it. I was so so so nervous beforehand and I made Chris go with me even though he just sat in the car, but I did it. I thought I did okay, but I know my voice did get a little shaky in the middle of the slower song. No matter what I do, that's always what happens when I get nervous. I'm proud of myself for giving it a shot and I'm still really excited to go see the show at the end of August! And maybe one day I'll give it a try again. Maybe go for a smaller deal show with a larger cast.

Not too much has been going on recently. Chris is still looking for a job and it sure is slow going. What a crappy time to be unemployed. My job is doing well though and we're grateful for it. Next week I get to go visit the missionaries I work with from Martin's Cove. I've been reading a lot lately about the Martin and Willie handcart groups and I've been touched many times by their hardships and their faith. I'm really excited to go there and visit those historic sites and the wonderful missionaries that are there.

I do have a few pictures to share. One is a really cute picture of Chris and me at baby Logan's 1-yr old birthday party. The others are from the Jazz playoff game we got to go to and see them beat the Nuggets! What an awesome game! Until this year I had never been to an NBA game so I'm glad we got to see a few this year. We bought our friend's tickets this time that were in the 11th row, right above the portal where the players come out. They were awesome! Thanks to the Kellers for such a great deal!

An AUDITION

THE DREAM:
So when I was a little girl I used to tell my parents ALL the time that I wanted to be an ACTRESS. My grandma would take me to musicals all the time and I always made her stay afterward just to watch all the cast members come out and go home. I admired them and wanted SO badly to be like them! I've always loved musicals and music in general and as a little girl I dreamed of being on the STAGE.

THE PROBLEM:
I get STAGE FRIGHT! Ok, so that's not the only reason. I mean, I was pretty involved in sports all the years I was growing up and that took up most of my time. But still, being stage fright has kept me from doing a ton of things in my life. I was never in choir, I wouldn't sing at church, I wasn't normally in talents shows or other performances. I just get all shy and scared and my voice gets shaky and it goes downhill from there. I mean I won't even play charades, that's how much I HATE being put on the spot.

PROGRESS:
A few times I have actually gotten up the COURAGE to do something brave. Like both my freshman and sophomore years in high school I sang a duet in the high school talent show. Then my senior year I finally got the guts to AUDITION for a play(and only because I didn't play volleyball that season, but that's another story) I auditioned for The Wizard of Oz, and let me tell you that was pretty dang scary. Well, I ended up being in the chorus for that show and then two years later I was in another small show called Charley's Aunt in which I had a fairly significant speaking role. What a crazy time, they were so fun!! Both times it was such a liberating experience for me!

TODAY:
Well here's why I'm telling you all this. I'm AUDITIONING for a show!! On Friday night my mother-in-law called to tell me that she cut out of the paper an ad for auditions for a show called PUMP BOYS AND DINETTES. I was shocked!! Nobody has ever heard of this show, but I grew up listening to the music and I love it! Even today I'll put in the CD on my way home sometimes and rock out BROADWAY style. And since I've always thought that I'd like to be in a community theatre show again sometime, I decided that I just have to give it a shot. I'm scared out of my mind and I'm totally not counting on anything coming of it, but I'm really excited about it. I'm glad that I've decided to just give it a try and go outside of my comfort zone a little bit. We'll see how it all goes...wish me luck!! Better yet, BREAK A LEG!

Grandpa Jensen

Grandpa Jensen turned 80 years old in February so we had an awesome birthday for him on Saturday! The whole family was there along with lots of friends, neighbors, and many others that love and admire him. The party started with lots of good food!

Then we had a little magic show by Uncle Dale. Grandpa used to do magic shows for all the grandkids, church activities, and all sorts of other things. He passed that talent on to his son Dale, and now I think Chris might even be looking forward to learning the tricks of the trade. :) After the show Grandpa read us some of his cowboy poetry. I really love to hear and read the things that he's written because it seems to me to be a really unique way to keep your own personal history.

The last event of the party was when everybody got to choose from some of Grandpa's treasures. You see, Grandpa Jensen has a hobby of going to auctions and buying all sorts of crazy stuff. He seriously bought a box of extra large bikinis one time and gave it to Chris. I mean, what the heck?! Anyways, amidst all the crazy weird stuff he actually has some really cool stuff. He honestly has a room full of random items at his house and his wife kinda made him get rid of some things. We got some really cool stuff I think. Anyways, it was a really fun day and one of the best parts was hearing Grandpa bear his testimony. I love having such a big family that shares the gospel. I want that to be my family some day. :)

I really should write on here more often. But sometimes I feel like my life just doesn't keep up with all you guys that have kids and take sweet pictures all the time. But hey, I guess for the few of you who might care I'll just give a little update.

Christmas festivities were pretty awesome. It was really nice to have our first Christmas together and spoil each other a little. Then of course we went over to his mom's and got spoiled by her too. She bought all the kids a Wii! (And we've been playing Mario ever since! :)

Lets see, after that came a pretty difficult time for my mom and her family. My grandma was supposed to come to Utah for our wedding in June but was diagnosed with stomach cancer that very week. They gave her 6-8 months I think and on January 24 she passed away. My mom has a really big family and so it was pretty hard for everybody and still seems kind of unreal. Anyways, I got to go home to MI for the funeral and to be there for my mom. It was great to see everyone and to also get to spend some time with the family.

Other than that, life is pretty normal. Work is going great for me, and I also might have a softball coaching opportunity this year. I'm still crossing my fingers for that!! Chris is in the middle of searching for a new job so we're crossing our fingers on that one too, that it doesn't take too long to find what he's looking for. We're doing great, trying to stay healthy by eating better and going to the gym. Props to Chris for losing 20 lbs in only three weeks!!

This weekend we're going to stay in Logan for Valentines Day. I dont have to work on Monday and after all the stress of the past month, I'm excited to get away for our first Valentines Day! On that note, I have the best husband ever and I cant believe how perfect we are together. I'm grateful for and undeserving of him at the same time.

Christmas is in the air!!

I feel like we've been going non-stop lately! Work has been crazy with preparations for all of the year-end accounting stuff so I've been sooo busy. Thanksgiving was totally amazing, I'm so happy that I got to spend some time with family and be home on such a great holiday for the first time in the past 5 years. On the flip side, this is the first time I've ever celebrated a Christmas away from home. I'm really sad about missing our family's Christmas party and not getting to spend it with my Grandma when it will probably be her last one...but there are definitely so many reasons why I'm excited about this Christmas:

1) I'm really excited for our first Christmas in our home. I'm excited about spending Christmas morning with my husband and beginning our own family traditions.
2) I LOVE having a house to decorate! Granted, I don't go around putting something in every nook and cranny, but I love having our own tree with our ornaments, my own nativity set, yummy smelling candles, and a few others things.
3) I'm excited about taking part in my husband's family traditions and seeing how he's grown up celebrating Christmas.
4) NO traveling!! Seriously, getting back and forth between two of the snowiest states is extremely stressful sometimes. Last Christmas my brother and I were really close to spending the night in the airport in Minneapolis and I seriously had a nervous breakdown.
5) I'll hopefully get to talk to my brother!! (this is something I would get to do either way, but I'm still excited) Eric is on a mission in Boston since August and I'm excited to hear from him. I miss him a lot.

Christopher turned 26 on Saturday! We went out to dinner to Chili's with some our amazing friends and came back to our house to celebrate afterwards. Chris opened his presents from me at the party and got new shoes, Guitar Hero 5, and tickets to the Jazz/Raptors game on November 18! The cake follows the Jazz theme. I ordered from the wife of a friend of mine from work. Wow, I've never had cake so good! www.ladow.org/stacycakes So good!! In the pic below, you can see the guys playing GH. I love the intensity on TJ's face as he sings! haha

It was a great day to celebrate, and so fun for me to be able to surprise Chris with all my planning. :) I couldn't ask for a better husband!

Corn Maze!

Two weeks ago we went with our friends Benj and Amanda to a corn maze in Syracuse. It was a Team Edward vs. Team Jacob maze based on the Twilight movies. It was a little strange because it had no distinct beginning or end, but we did get lost pretty good a couple of times so that made it worth it. We had a lot of fun with them!

Where did the summer go? Wow, it's kinda been a while. Chris and I have been married for 4 months now! Yeah, yeah, that doesn't seem like a lot to most of you, but it's pretty exciting for us. Actually in just a few days is the anniversary of our engagement. I can't believe it's been that long. We're loving life though, staying busy and relaxing at the same time. Work is going well for me and I'm really enjoying what I do. Chris' job at New York Life finally got it's kickoff. It's something that takes a while to get the hang of, but he's working really hard at it and has done pretty well so far. Here's some highlights of the past couple months:

We bought tickets to MI for Thanksgiving!! And I can't tell you how excited I am :)
Chris broke his thumb playing softball and had to wear a cast for like 6 weeks. And this is kinda funny, the hair on his arm that was covered by the cast grows a lot faster now! haha
Like I said, Chris has really started working his new job. I love seeing my professional husband all dressed up every day :) He's even fully equipped with a Blackberry, bluetooth, two new suits, and his own business cards! Anyone interested in life insurance?!?
We've attended like 5 wedding receptions. Such is life in Utah during the summer I guess, right?
Our condo has turned into a really homey place. We finally got it set up just the way we like it and we just love it here. And being able to decorate your own home is SO fun! (some pics below)
My brother left on his mission to Boston. He left the MTC last week and we just got his first letter from the field today. He already baptized someone! (it made me cry! :)
I've started scrapbooking our honeymoon pictures and it is so fun! I love having time do the things I love without worrying about homework anymore!

MARRIAGE

So it's already been a month, how crazy is that?! Married life is the best. Seriously. I love coming home to Christopher every day and just being so in love. I've been meaning to update this for a long time, but it's just been so busy that I really haven't had the time. And now there's so much to tell that I don't even know where to start!

The week of the wedding was amazing. My bridesmaids were all here staying at our apartment with me and it was so wonderful to have us all together. Those three girls are my very best friends from freshman year of college, and to show how great it was to be back together - we haven't been all together in three years, and the girls flew in from three different countries to be here for my day. My family was here too of course, and it was so wonderful to share such a great time with everyone.

THE DAY was the best of our lives. There's not even much I can say to describe it. I'm grateful for all of you that were there for us. The temple was indescribable, such an amazing feeling to FINALLY be sealed for eternity! Here's the day described in pictures!

We left the party in a limo with me not knowing where we were staying. And it took us to the Grand America Hotel! It was so beautiful and Chris had decorated with rose petals all over the floor and bed! I could probably say a whole lot more about it, but I'm pretty sure I should skip to the next morning... ;)

Our flight left at about 11:30 am for Maui!!! Lucky for us our flight was overbooked and we actually got on a direct flight that got us there 3 hours earlier! What can I even say about how amazing Hawaii is? It's so incredible. In Hawaii we signed up for three main activities. The first was a luau at the Sheraton resort. I loved it and the food was great! The best part was when the honeymooning husbands had to get up on stage and be instructed in a dance! HILARIOUS! I wish I had videoed Chris up there, but I did get a picture.

The second activity was on Wednesday. And let me tell you, this turned out to be quite an interesting day. We got up around six to take a trip on the Four Winds boat out to Molekini for some snorkeling! Now let's preface this by saying that I'm really good at getting motion sickness. But I thought the boat wasn't too big and I'd be outside so I would be fine. BAD assumption. It took an hour to sail out there and I was sick the whole time. I threw up in Chris' hat and towel and the rest of the trip was pretty much ruined. I couldn't eat and I could barely even snorkel. But the day's not over yet. (I did manage to take one good picture)

When we finally got back on dry land it was a happy day! Back at the hotel afterwards Chris did some more snorkeling and was later complaining about his ear hurting. Well right I was falling asleep he starts yelling for me to help him because there's something in his ear and he can't hear anything. Now of course I want to be this cute little wife who knows exactly how to help and console her husband, but I had no idea what to do. All the nearby clinics were closed and Chris was freaking out so we drove across the island for an hour to go to the ER. Let me sum up that experience by saying its the first time I've heard Chris swear. He was so frustrated because the people were extremely rude and almost sent us away without having fixed the problem. Luckily I asked them to wash it out again and it worked!

But this day still isn't over... Well technically it is, but we got back at 1 in the morning and a bus picked us up at 2:30 am for our next trip. This day was actually 100 times better but we were going on an hour of sleep! We drove up to the top of a volcano called Haleakala and got to watch the sunrise and then bike back down about 25 miles. I can honestly say it's one of the coolest things I've ever done. The sunrise was beautiful and the view for the bike ride was amazing. We were pooped when we got home!!

The rest of the trip was filled with lots of beach snorkeling, eating out, sleeping in, hanging by the pool, and just relaxing and enjoying each other. Coming home was a little sad, but I couldn't have asked for a better honeymoon or a better husband. Here's some of our other favorite pics from the trip!

Life since being home is pretty awesome. It's great to come home to my husband every day and not have to say good night and go sleep in different rooms! I feel like we've already learned more about each other and that the years ahead are full of wonderful moments and special things to share. Our house is looking great and we love it! My job is going great and Chris should be staring his any day now! We celebrated my birthday on the 6th of July, I'm now 22! And the most recent news is that Chris broke his thumb playing softball on Wednesday. The cast is pretty ugly right now cuz he was so swollen but he'll get a new one on Monday and be in it for 6 to 8 weeks! Sad... :(
Well hopefully now I'll keep up with posting a little bit better. We're looking forward to things dying down quite a bit now and us getting into a better routine. Exciting times ahead!! :) :)

So...the day is swiftly approaching. In only 12 days, Chris and I will be married for time and all eternity. Pretty awesome, huh? It was really great to come home to Chris after being in Michigan for two weeks, and the time since then has flown by. I started working fulltime as an accountant with the company I interned with last summer. It's called AgReserves, and they oversee the investment farms and ranches of the LDS church. It was pretty awesome to receive that first big paycheck! In the meantime, Chris was studying super hard for his exam to become licensed as an insurance sales agent for New York Life. He took the test last Wednesday and passed with flying colors! I'm really proud of him. :)

Wedding planning has also taken off in the past couple weeks. I had three more showers when I got home, which were all absolutely wonderful. Thanks goes to Natalie and the rest of the girls for the great dinner and party that we had! I also got my bridal photos taken last Thursday, which I'll give a sneak peek of in a minute! I LOVE THEM!! I'm really glad Natalie went with me to do those. We had such a great time and she was a really great help with everything! Chris and I also have put in orders for many last minute wedding things. Our guest book is one of them. Thanks goes to Mallorie for getting us the website and everything for that! I put in the order on Tuesday and we already got the book!

Things are all falling into place. The cake is ordered, menu decided, guest book, serving set, and party favors acquired. Now we just need the next couple of weeks to go by quickly! My family is all coming in a week from tomorrow and I'm super excited for them to all be here. My bridesmaids will all soon be here also, as well as Chris' sister Ashley. Lots of fun time are coming up, and we're excited for all of you, our greatest friends, to be a part of it too!

So I've known for a while that I wanted to create a blog for Chris and me, but I hadn't gotten around to it until now. It's boring right now because I don't have a clue what I'm doing, and currently I'm at home in Michigan with dial-up internet, so I'll need some help!!

Just a brief synopsis on the life of Chris and Ashley: WE'RE READY TO BE MARRIED!!! Yeah, that about sums it up. All the planning, decisions, parties, and attention are fun and all. But it's time to get it over with and start our lives together. Especially because these two weeks apart while I've been in Michigan have been pretty tough. We're ready for married life, enough said.
